In a somewhat unexpected move, Nokia has announced that it will stop developing and marketing its own business mobility solution, and will sell its security appliances business to an interested investor.

What this basically means is that it’s the end of the road for Nokia’s business solutions department, as the company has expressed their intent to focus their resources and efforts in further strengthening their hold in the consumer market as their efforts in the business sector seem to have fallen short of success. I guess we should have figured that something was up when they recently released Microsoft Exchange support for their S60-running phones.

Anyway, I wonder how this will impact their entire business mobile phone line, the E-series, as it relies heavily on Nokia’s own business solution software. We should more or less know the answer to that question in the months to come.
