The Samsung Highnote is one of several new handsets that will be exclusively available from Sprint.

At first glance, this slider looks more like an mp3 player than a phone, and when you slide it one direction, it reveals its loudspeakers. Slide it in the other direction and the numeric keypad will then be accessible. The main navigation buttons can be found below the screen which looks similar to the iPod’s clickwheel but is actually a rotating dial. Gizmodo got to play around with it, and they’re impressed by the speakers. However, aside from that, it’s more or less just a standard phone with a dual-slide mechanism and a 2-megapixel camera at the back.

Personally, I find it a bit too small for my taste but I figure this would appeal more to those who really dig mobile phone music players. If this is your type of phone, you can get it once it becomes available in October for $100.
