Recently we told you about an upcoming Stephen King mini-movie that will be available on US phones thanks to a deal struck between Marvel Comics and CBS.
Now, about 5000 miles south, a soap opera is being produced just for cell phone "viewers" in Argentina.
Planned for later this year, Encandilados is an Argentine telenovela geared toward teenagers that can only be viewed with a mobile.
Each of the 50 episodes runs four minutes in length and features two high profile stars, Sabrina Garciarena and Luisana Lopilato.
Will a 50 episode soap catch on in the Americas? Will mobile owners finally be enticed to watch television on their phones, something that hasn't proven overly popular to date?
Probably not in the US or Canada, but Latin America loves its telenovelas and with easy-on-the-eyes stars like Garciarena and Lopilato, Encandilados looks to be a mobile hit in the making.
