The internet is whispering about Google's Gphone once again.

Originally, in 2007, rumor had it that HTC would be the dad of the device. But Google smashed those rumors by declaring the formation of the Open Handset Alliance and an advanced OS called Android. Combined, they could provide an open source approach that would not, as in the case of the iphone, rely on any network. It is, in the truest sense of the phrase, disruptive technology in a good way.

Google's co-founders today made comments that have some believing that the Gphone is a Go, stating, "The trio of Google execs also used the opportunity to talk about the inroads the company is making with its own branded mobile phone as a replacement for the iPhone."

So there it is. Wow. What a holiday season this is shaping up to be.
