Looking for an inexpensive pre-paid phone for Rogers. You might want to check out the Sony Ericsson W200 which was announced a bit back. Priced at $109.99 (after rebate), the phone is a very basic but comes with some neat accessories inside the box. Aside from the normal battery and charger, you'll score a stereo headset/handsfree kit, USB cable, software and a 128 MB microSD memory stick. That's a fair number of goodies when you consider what comes in the typical phone kit.
The phone itself lacks Bluetooth but basic data transfer is still possible via an infrared port. The w200 is a tri-band unit working on 850/1800 and 1900. Of course, for $119 you can't expect 3G. It has a central joystick to navigate but the joystick has been known to break down and stick over time which could make playing games hard on it after time.
-101 x 44 x 18 mm
- 65K colors, 128 x 160 pixels, 1.8 inch display
-13 Wallpapers, 5 themes
- FM radio with RDS
- Up to 300 hours standby time, 7 hours talk time
The nicest feature of this phone is by far the built-in Walkman function. Considering Sony started the whole Walkman thing they know what they are doing. The sound quality is good for the price and having the stereo headphones is a nice touch. The sound quality has gotten good reviews. Lack of Bluetooth and a camera remain the biggest drawbacks.
