Dell has just formally launched the Venue, the QWERTY-less Android twin of the Windows Phone 7-powered Dell Venue Pro. Just like its namesake, this behemoth sports a 4.1-inch AMOLED Gorilla Glass protected display but ups the ante with an 8-megapixel camera. The Dell Venue comes with Android 2.2 complete with the custom Stage UI overlay first introduced on the Dell Streak, and packs a 1GHz Snapdragon processor complemented by 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM running under the hood. It also features WiFi, Bluetooth 2.3, AGPS and a microSD card slot for additional storage.
It’s already available in Hong Kong and retailing for HK$3,999 or around $514 in the green back. No word yet on when it’ll hit other regional markets, but based on the timing of its launch, it's highly doubtful it’ll make it to the North American market before the year comes to a close. A Q1/Q2 2011 debut looks more plausible at this point in time if ever it’ll indeed be released locally.
