Here’s bad news for you Nokia fan boys out there hoping to get your hands on the Nokia E7 before the year comes to a close. It’s confirmed that Espoo’s first every Eseries touchscreen QWERTY smartphone has been delayed, and won’t begin shipping until early 2011. The official reason given for the delay was “to ensure the best possible user experience on the E7,” but word is it’s really due to a newly discovered “minor durability issue” in the hardware which forced Nokia to postpone is launch.
Will this delay have a direct effect on its ETA on Rogers this coming spring? Hopefully not, but if Rogers does decide to push back its local debut, at least you now know why.
The Nokia E7 is the QWERTY-equipped alternative to the Nokia N8. It sports almost the design and feature set albeit coming with a larger touchscreen (4-inch AMOLED) complete with ClearBlack technology, more ROM (1GB), a weaker fixed focus 8-megapixel fixed focus camera, and no microSD card slot.
