If you own a Motorola BackFlip, Dext, Quench or Milestone Android phone, read on as we’ve got some relatively good news for you. Motorola has just posted details on their website regarding these Android phones on whether or not it will receive an appropriate Android 2.1/2.2 upgrade in the near future.
All of mentioned models for Canada are currently under evaluation. It’s not exactly good news yet, but at least they haven’t shut the door on the possibility that these particular Motorola handsets will be upgraded to a newer version of Android soon. In the US, they’ve already confirmed Android 2.1 will be coming to the BackFlip in Q3 while the Droid, the US version of the Milestone, is already in the roll out phase for the Android 2.2 update. The Motorola Devour, unfortunately, didn’t make the mark and has been given the thumbs down for the Android 2.1 upgrade.
No word on when they’ll be done evaluating the Dext and Quench, but considering that the BackFlip and Droid have both been approved in the US, it’s probably safe to assume that this will also be the same scenario in Canada. For more info, you can check it out the complete announcement here.
