Want to enjoy some added security features on your BlackBerry smartphone? If so, then the newly announced BlackBerry Protect app will probably be of great interest to you.
It's not yet available to the general public to use, but will be released later in the week as a limited beta. It's scheduled to hit the App World test center later this year as an open public beta app, and when it finally gets the go signal to roll out, will be available as a free download to BlackBerry users. Some of the notable features you can look forward to this new piece of software include the ability to backup/restore your RIM smartphone OTA (over-the-air), remotely lock the device, wipe clean its memory, and probably the option that most people will prefer, locate a lost/stolen BlackBerry smartphone on a map or activate a loud ringer if its just nearby. Think of it as the RIM counterpart to Apple’s Find My iPhone app.
