It looks like Rogers finally caved in to competition. Initially rumored to be offering up the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 for $79.99, it appears that they’ve now had a change of heart and will be matching their rivals’ would-be price point at $29.99 on a 3-yr contract based on this leaked screenshot.
Do note, however, that this is yet to be confirmed and is just a promotional price only. Be that as it may, the lowering of their 3-year on-contract price of the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 will still be a welcome development if indeed this report turns to be true. Rogers is said to be already shipping the Pearl 3G out to retail outlets across the nation, and should be available within the next couple of days.
The BlackBerry Pearl 9100, for those not familiar with this particular RIM handset, comes with 3.2-megapixel AF camera with flash, WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, an optical trackpad, BlackBerry OS 5, and runs ona 624Mhz processor with 256MB flash memory. The Pearl 3G is likewise confirmed coming to Bell, Telus, and Virgin Mobile.
