This still isn’t confirmed yet, but with the vast number of leaked snapshots and rumors that have surface in the last couple of months centering on this particular device, we’re starting to believe that it is.
Shown here are some hands-on pics of what’s being purported as RIM’s first slider phone, the BlackBerry 9800. Admittedly, these aren’t the best of leaked images, but we can clearly see the slide-out QWERTY keypad and optical touchpad that’s one of the new mainstay features in today's current crop of BlackBerry smartphones.
There are no details yet on its specs, but according to BBleaks, this will be the first RIM smartphone to run on the new BlackBerry OS 6.0 software. So, is the BlackBerry 9800 a touchscreen phone then? Its form factor and OS version seems to suggest so, but it should be noted that OS 6.0 also works on non-touchscreen phones as well so we can’t really say at this point in time. For now, just treat this as a heads up that RIM might debut a BlackBerry slider phone in the near future.
