Want to get an Android phone but not satisfied with what the current carriers are offering?
Well, if you’re willing to wait, you can soon find Android-powered handsets from MTS as well. This is based on an email sent to Howard Forums member drewlsvern as an answer to his inquiry as to when MTS will offer up an Android phone to their subscribers.
Here’s a copy of the reply sent to him:
Thank you for the email.
MTS is in discussions with several manufacturers of Android devices however nothing has been decided yet. The goal is to have a device in market in Spring 2010.
Please continue to check with us periodically.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at email@example.com or use our website, www.mts.ca under Contact Us. You can also reach MTS Customer Care within Manitoba at 225-5687 (CALLMTS), press 2 for Wireless service or toll-free at 1-800-362-3347 across Canada. Our hours of operation are from Monday-Friday 8am-6pm.
Thank you for using MTS
As you can see, nothing’s final yet, but if everything goes according to plan, we’ll see MTS launch an Android phone sometime in Spring of 2010. Hopefully though, when this happens, they’ll provide firmware updates for their Android phones which Rogers and HTC, unfortunately, failed to do to the dismay of their subscribers.
