Continuing the Samsung Instinct lineage, Sprint has just announced their latest Instinct branded device, the Samsung Instinct HD.
While the HD name is usually associated with a large high-resolution display, sadly though, the same is not true with this Samsung phone. Don’t get me wrong, it’s got HD capabilities, but you won’t be able to take advantage of it on the device itself. You’d have to connect Samsung Instinct HD to an external device to use the HD playback feature. Apart from that, it also boasts of a 320x480 16M color TFT touchscreen, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, EV-DO Rev. A connectivity, accelerometer, light sensor, and comes loaded with Opera Mobile 9.7. It also supports corporate and POP3 email as well as Visual Voicemail. For more info about the Samsung Instinct HD, you can check it out here.
The Samsung Instinct HD will be available from Best Buy beginning September 27th and will hit Sprint retail channels on October 11th. Its set to retail for $249.99 (after $100 mail-in rebate is applied) on a 2-yr contract. Over-all, it’s not such a bad phone though we would have preferred that the HD playback could have been done on phone itself. The full press release can be found here.
