Asus and Google Readying Nexus 7 Follow-Up
Android Guys

The $199 Nexus 7 has been one of the top selling Android tablets. Hence, Asus and Google are readying a follow-up to the first device running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. DigiTimes, citing unnamed sources from the supply chain, reports that the second-generation Nexus 7 would be announced in May, likely at the Google's I/O developer conference. The Nexus 7 follow-up is expected to have a full high-definition 1080p display, a thinner bezel around the screen, the same $199-$249 price point, and the newest version of the Android operating system.

What Else You Need To Know

  • The Google I/O is slated for May 15th through 17th in San Francisco, California.
  • Unit sales of the original Nexus 7 are slated to pass the 6-millionth mark this month.
