Simply put, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 are easy to be interested in, but difficult to like, delivering a product that just doesn’t do what’s implied. The idea of an AI-based system for noise cancellation is one that definitely intrigued, but the result is one that makes you wonder if the AI was even trained to begin with (and if so, with what). Without the noise cancellation, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 are a more expensive take on the Apple AirPods, but with it, they’re a more economical take on the AirPods Pro in a product that just doesn’t work.

A solid alternative to Apple’s AirPods Pro

Overall, Huawei seems to have hit the sweet spot with the FreeBuds 3. Overall, Huawei seems to have hit the sweet spot with the FreeBuds 3. They beat the AirPods Pro on price, comfort, and sound quality, Sure, the design is derivative at best and copied at worst, active noise reduction is basic, and the app only supports Android, but despite having access to a wide selection of true wireless earbuds -- from Apple, Samsung, Sony, Razer, TCL, and Jabra -- I keep coming back to the FreeBuds 3 for casual listening.

Deliver a well-rounded experience at a price that’s hard to ignore

With the Freebuds 3, Huawei somehow managed to hit a sweet spot, delivering just the right balance of battery life, audio quality, noise cancellation and overall ease which replicates the AirPod experience for Android users, something we’ve all been yearning for a very long time.

If you are using an Android phone and you need a pair of noise-canceling in-ear headphones that will sound great during daily use, you can’t go wrong with the Huawei FreeBuds 3. Will they cancel out plane engine noise on a transatlantic flight? No. For that, you should get a pair of on- or over-ear headphones, but they do cut out a lot of background noise, and they do sound great when making calls or listening to music.

More than meets the eye

These are great wireless earbuds. In fact, I'd say they're amongst the best open-ear wireless earbuds on the market, if not the best ones. They're a great all-round pair of earbuds that not only handle music properly, but you can also make and take calls on them without an issue.

Decent sound paired with a familiar design

In isolation, the Huawei FreeBuds 3 are a great buy. They offer that active noise cancellation you simply can’t get from any other Bluetooth earbuds in this open style and at this price-point — just $10 more than Apple’s standard AirPods at around $170. I’m not going to say that they are the best earbuds on the market but they offer more than enough to make them a great companion to every Android phone out there. Releasing just ahead of the AirPods Pro wasn’t the best timing but, in my opinion, the FreeBuds 3 are far superior to Apple’s standard AirPods.

The Huawei FreeBuds 3 is not cheap. But, it is considered a steal for the features and audio quality. It also undercut the price of several popular and more expensive TWS alternatives such as AirPods 2, AirPods Pro, and more. Versus the AirPods 2, it has a clear advantage in comfort, sound quality, and noise-canceling despite the more affordable price tag. It is even easier to use and more feature-rich than the Sony WF-1000MX3. If you are the type of user who's not into in-ear earphones and you are an Android user, this is the best TWS earbuds that I've ever tested for both music and calls yet.

The Android AirPods Pro alternative

from finder.com.au

If you're an Android user – and especially a Huawei Android user – then the Huawei Freebuds 3 are the closest you're going to come to the AirPods Pro experience without giving money to Apple. They're generally very good headphones, but the noise cancelling features are disappointingly inconsistent.

Best value wireless earbuds

from GadgetMatch

There’s a lot to love with the Freebuds 3. The noise cancellation is pretty good, sound quality is superb, and the carrying case is small enough to be pocketable but not too small that they’re easy to misplace. The battery is also pretty darn good. My only real gripe is how it looks.
