AcousticSheep was one of the original brands to dive into the world of sleeping headphones. The Sleepphones Classic promises to offer comfort and ease for better sleep without breaking the bank. Do they work? Are they worth buying?
The Sleepphones Classic is designed much like other sleeping headbands, tucking thin padded speakers into a soft headband. AcousticSheep offers two different kinds of materials. SleepCloud Fleece is a soft material made to be warm and comes in several different colours, including Midnight Black, Quiet Lavender and Soft Grey. The other option -- SleepCloud Breeze -- is a more stretchy breathable fabric in colors like Galaxy Blue, Sunset Pink, and Pink Leopard.
Between the two fabric options, there’s a range of comfort differences. Fleece options will be warmer -- and possibly sweatier. In comparison, the more breathable fabric reduces sweating and sits lighter on the head. Reviewers stated both options had benefits and drawbacks.
As with most sleep headphones and bands, the sound quality isn’t phenomenal. But that doesn’t mean it’s not good. Reviewers were satisfied with their sound quality, especially at the lower volumes you’d typically use for sleeping.
AcousticSheep Sleepphones Classic is a wired option. However, if you’re looking for a wireless option, they have multiple models available.
Since these headphones are wired, you won’t need to worry about battery life.
Sleepphones Classic is not designed for noise cancellation, nor do they have a rating but reviewers stated that they were good enough at blocking out noise from outside the band.
AcousticSheep offers a vast library of free and paid audio for use with the Sleepphones Classic.

AcousticSheep isn’t new to the market, having started in 2007. They know their way around a pair of headphones for sleeping. There are multiple choices based on comfort and what the sleeper might need. The Sleepphones Classic is a baseline model, but they’re still an excellent choice for a reliable set of sleeping headphones.
The Sleep Judge says, “Overall, I have really enjoyed my SleepPhones and have put them to the test with a variety of things. The only thing I haven’t done is travel with them, but I already know they are going to be a nice change on long flights compared to the earbuds or headphones I normally use that don’t allow me to rest my head against anything. Plus earbuds make my ears itch after a while.”
Goodnights Rest states, “... they have had time to refine their product offerings and respond to initial complaints by releasing variants and additions to the flagship SleepPhones Classic. This drive for improvement in itself is important to us here at Good Night’s Rest, as both reviewers and consumers. It is what we look for when we talk about promise and potential.”
