What the Critics Are Saying...

ValuePenguin

A great choice for travelers who are loyal to the Bonvoy chain but don't spend enough — or stay at Marriott properties often enough— to justify getting one of the Marriott cards with an annual fee. With the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card, you'll still have the ability to earn Bonvoy points, but y...

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold credit card is a decent option if you want to test out a hotel rewards card without committing to an annual fee. It offers a chance for folks who wouldn’t otherwise apply for a Marriott Bonvoy card to see if the program is worth their time.

To be blunt, most people are going to get more value out of other card options, especially when you look at the current lineup of Marriot Bonvoy cards available. The rewards rates and added perks more than make up for the annual fees associated with those cards. However, true beginners (and maybe th...

For fans of Marriott hotels, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold card is a reasonable option for earning extra Marriott points and qualifying for elite status without having to pay an annual fee, though the card’s rate for earning points is measly.

I don’t think the Marriott Bold is an especially attractive credit card worth immediately jumping on. This is much more attractive as a product change option in the future in my opinion, after you’ve been able to accurately ascertain the value you might get from the free night of the Boundless card....

A great choice for travelers who are loyal to the Bonvoy chain but don't spend enough — or stay at Marriott properties often enough— to justify getting one of the Marriott cards with an annual fee. With the Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card, you'll still have the ability to earn Bonvoy points, but you'll miss out on some of the perks of the more expensive Bonvoy cards. However, this is an ideal card if you're mainly looking to earn points.

To be blunt, most people are going to get more value out of other card options, especially when you look at the current lineup of Marriot Bonvoy cards available. The rewards rates and added perks more than make up for the annual fees associated with those cards. However, true beginners (and maybe those who are absolutely against adding another annual fee to their wallet) could find value with the Bonvoy Bold. Just make sure that this is the best option for your situation before using up one of your valuable Chase 5/24 slots.

This is much more attractive as a product change option in the future in my opinion, after you’ve been able to accurately ascertain the value you might get from the free night of the Boundless card. However, if you’re in the market for a no annual fee card, you can earn a nice little bonus in the process and also get some solid perks like no foreign transaction fees and good travel protections.

A decent no annual fee option for Marriott lovers

The Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold Card is a decent no annual fee option for Marriott lovers. However, its best used as a downgrade option for the Boundless Card. It’s an poor earner with an expensive sign-up bonus. And a lack of perks leaves much to be desired.
