Alltel provided coverage in 34 states, voice and data coverage in parts of Canada and voice coverage in parts of Mexico. It was, at one time, the fifth largest US carrier, due in large part to aggressive growth and acquisitions.
Alltel distributed their products and services through retail stores, kiosks, independent dealers and direct sales representatives. Alltel was noted for being the first wireless company to poke fun at its competitors through its television advertising.

Darn, there are no reviews yet for this carrier.
alltel ruined my credit score and after 2 solid days of searching I cannot find a phone # for them
I went to my local electric company to have my electric transferred they said I had an outstanding bill of $813.42. Since I had paid my bill off in 2007 I knew this was not correct in attempting to get it staightened out I have been trying for 2 days to find out a phone number to get the problem staightened out. I then found out I had been turned over to a collection agengy (Pinnacle) 888-809-2320 who sold my note to another collection agency (Stevens and Michels) 866-201-0940 who when I asked for proof of the debt said they dont have it, I will have to send a written request to them @ P.O. Box 109, Salem, NH 03099 then they will send a request to PinnacleLess
Alltel - The greatest liars on the planet...
OK, maybe no one single employee is the biggest liar on the planet but when it comes to being honest with its customers Alltel is a brilliant, shining pillar of colossal deception. I don't care what kind of phones they offer or how good their reception is supposed to be in a given area you have to be crazy to want to enter into a contract with them. I had no idea how bad they really were and all my problems stem from just having a prepaid phone with no contract. They told me they couldn't reactivate my phone which I think was the first lie. That forced me to buy a new phone. When I found out that my phone was chewing up the minutes and I was going through card after card, the phone barely being used, I went back. I found out that they conveniently neglected to tell me that I would be charged for every single incoming text message. They basically made the whole thing out to be my fault, as they always do with everyone. The salesman implied that it was my fault because it was my phone and the messages were coming to me. The thing is, my phone gets text messages whether I want it to or not and so if I buy a $20 card and put minutes on the phone the text messages run right through it and there is nothing I can do about. This means that if I don't use my phone at all the card will probably run out of minutes before the time lapses on it. This is something that is definitely their fault. They sell the phones so how could they not know this is going on? The answer is that they do but are deceptive and lie when they have to because they are going to sell their phones and get their money no matter what. If you don't want a black hole to open up in your wallet then stay away from Alltel, especially the store in Mansfield, Ohio.Less

Alltel is the best
I have had Alltell for over five years now and had no problems with them. Friendly reps at customer service and great coverage in the hills. I love AlltelLess
PIECE OF SHIT
I had a wireless internet card from Alltel....it was excellent where I opened the service but because I am in the military I could no longer remain in the area. I only got the thing so that it would be able to travel with me to different mission statewide, and go where ever I went to be stationed, or on leave! I was not impressed that everytime I changed locations I had to be on the phone for a hour with technical support to network the card with the new area, or whatever they did to get me the little bit of service that they could muster up. Around the 5th location I was completely fed up and decided to keep the service on for the remainder of the contract, which I thought was only for a month longer which beats the hell out of a 200 ETF. Alltel representatives assured me that they would waive the fee as soon as my bill was payed up until the end of the month of February, so I payed the bill but the fee was not removed. Today I have been on the phone for 3 hours talking to 10+ representatives who when they complete what they have to say without listening to the whole situation decide it would be a great time the hang up!!!!! Finally one man assured me that his supervisor would call me when he got off the phone with the customer in front of me, I waited but no call. Now I am pissed, I will make sure that alltel never gets a customer that I know. I too like many people have already, will be complaining to better business bureau. Hope business gets very bad for them when more people realize what a poor service Alltel is.Less
ALLTEL WORST COMPANY I HAD SO FAR
Alltel has the worst customer service ever, definitely a joke. They also sell you crappy phones that break within 2 months of getting them with no physical trauma and then they say the issues with the phone are beyond the warranty scope. In a period of less than a year I had a Krazr, the phone worked but the screen light went out, and they denied the warranty. Now, an LG Scoop, with a damaged charging port, warranty denied coverage. The day this happened, the phone got really hot, and then it wouldn't charge, so they sent me a new phone, but the new phone didn't work with the old battery. They decided the battery was defective and sent me a new battery, which now worked with the new phone, but now they are returning the old phone saying the issues are beyond warranty scope, and I have to pay for the new phone they sent me ($220). I told them I'd rather pay for the $200 cancellation fee, rather than pay $220 for a crappy phone that breaks 2 months into using it and warranty will not cover. I also have T-mobile service with another phone, never had issues with them. The phone broke and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. Also, an Alltel retail agent told me that adding a new line was $9.99/month, but now the bill says $20 (that's $240 difference over 24 month line contract), the lady recognized that she gave the wrong information and she herself wanted to give me a refund, but her manager refused and they gave me a $20 credit for THEIR MISTAKE. Unbelievable. I'm done with Alltel for good as soon as my other contracts expire.Less
Love, Love, Love
I absolutely LOVE Alltel and would never choose any other company. Traveling throughout the nation you will see very little problems with coverage. There isn't a perfect wirless company out there, but at least with Alltel there are very few issues. People who have issues with billing really should blame themselves. The reason I say that is Alltel provides you with all the necessary tools to track how many minutes you use and any other features you may add. They have their online accounts and you can also dial it from your phone. Basically I love Alltel!!! :)Less
Alltel, worst cell phone service ever!
I moved to Missoula a few months back and switched from tmoble to alltel. The reception was just OK, but I had no real problems until the first bill. It was for $130 and I realized by reading the fine print that the Alltel rep had ignored my request to moved the nightime minutes from 9pm to 7pm ( a $7 a month fee). I then had to move back to Boise where I was on roaming. I needed a new phone and found that no Alltel stores were in the area. I went online and found a used Blackberry 8703e for $100. Before I purchased it I called Alltel and confirmed that it would work with thier service with no additional charges. The Alltel rep said it would work fine without data plan, just the phone service active. I ordered and recieved the new phone and discoved that Alltel had lied. They wanted $80 a month to use this phone. After complaining about this they said they had no record of the call which supplied me with false information and I, of coarse, said I no longer needed thier services. This caused a $200 early term fee. I have been patient and cordial in trying to get this fee waived, but have been hung up on twice and put on hold for about 30 minutes total. I am done. I will now contact the Federal Trade Commision, better Buisiness Buruea and my State Representatives. Anyone else having problems with Alltel should do the same. They are thieves.Less
Alltel service? What service?
We've been with Alltel for over a year. Went through 4 bad phones, terrible service. Needed a new phone, & was going to go w/ another carrier. We called Alltel & told about bad service. We got GABBY- I should have ran for my life because we've been in hell since. We had 2 witnesses. Gabby apologized & offered us 2 phones for $34.00,NO CONTRACT month to month free car chargers & phone cases.( several rebates & instant credits were SUPPOSED to be added to get it for$34.00). Next month- we get a bill. What??? You want $200.00 for the phones??? Thank you for your new 2 yr contract? We called Gabby at the same extension. NICE- She NEVER called back. Supervisors sided w/ her & basically insulted my husband telling him he should be smarter than to fall for that. Hello??? Don't you need a signiture for a contract. Also I thought customer service went to school to learn how to treat customers. He cussed my husband out. We called back. "Just take it to any Alltel store & they'll handle it." Yeah right. 2 stores later at more than 70 miles away from where we live, they would not take it back. 5 supervisors later One assured us he would call us back with a solution to the problem. One month later- I'm still waiting for that call. We mailed their phones back certified mail with a letter praying there was one honest caring person at Alltel. Guess what?? The manager who insulted & cussed my husband called both of us back. Cussing us again!!!!! He said he WOULD NOT take the phones back. We still owed 200.00 & would be on a 2 yr contract that we never wanted. My husband has excellent credit. We've never been late on a Alltel bill, & paid in full untill this happened. But they keep calling him at work, very harshly demanding $200.00. We have their signature card where they signed for the returned phones!!!!! We have contacted the FCC & have not heard any thing back yet. We also have documentation of calls, & visits & copies of the letter sent to Alltel. Anyone would be happy to get our business except Alltel why??? I don't know. Please people don't waste your money please.Less
I have had many carriers to include all the national carriers. I have also been a salesperson for just about every national carrier as well as the national prepaid providers. Alltel is by far the best of the best wireless carriers due to the size of it's network, the strength of it's signal, and the friendliness of the retail store reps. If I were to say anything different, I would be crazy.Less
