This is the best phone i have ever owned. I chose it when I was pregnant with my third child and my two boys had dropped my other phone in a cup of water. I realized that phones these days are not made to be handled roughly and that wouldn't work for me. This phone lasted 2 years with no issues... dropped, dunked in water, spit up on, sat on, etc. People always kidded me about the size but I never had to worry about it getting destroyed and i never lost it at the bottom of my purse. It has an enormous amount of storage for pictures and a great camera as well. I thought all "newer" phones had this until I had to switch providers and give up my G'zOne. I miss it desperately and keep trying to find a way I can get a similar phone on my new provider. Verizon is just too expensive for us but this phone is almost worth it. Practical, Functional, hard-working, great phone. Less

Tough piece of equipment-Haven't been able to break it.

I am a hiker, biker and ATV'r and have dropped it onto concrete, rocks, mud-holes etc. Awesome build quality, really. Without a QWERTY keyboard it is awkward to text with if the user is really into that sort of thing. Only complaint is the side volume buttons and inability to lock them out. Less

We bought two G'zOne type V phones in 2007, my wife and I, and would not trade them for any other. We are both swimmers and active people. Cell phones we had before died, but these have survived. The Verizon reception is better than any cell phone we had before. We use only the contact list and do not like paging through other apps, but that is a minor gripe. Verizon will not tell you, but there is an excellent utility and adapter cable from Susteen Datapilot that will transfer contact lists and photo images. It closes the loop. Less

I've owned the older version of this phone and was delighted to know that this one was still available through my carrier. Weighing in at almost 4 ounces and measuring 3.9" x 2" x 0.9" this Casio G'zOne won't be confused with a skinny phone anytime soon. I've taken this model through water, dust storms, salt, fog, humidity, high altitude, and extreme temperatures. Its proved to be no wimp. There's a locking mechanism with the battery cover (unlock it by using a small coin), and the charging port has a tight rubberized cover. Packed with a an okay camera, Bluetooth, Push-to-Talk, and support for music and video. Reception and transmission has been great with no hiccups. The navigation pad consists of two soft keys, a four-way toggle with a middle OK key, a dedicated camera/camcorder key, plus a speakerphone key that acts as a flashlight key if you hold it down for a longer press. As for music quality, I would not seriously consider it as a replacement for your mp3 player. The battery has lasted over 12 hours. It pairs well with my both Plantronics 510 and 520 Bluetooth headsets. In the box, a 2 way detachable ac adapter/cradle, instructions, and the standard one year manufacturer's warranty. Casio's website sports limited information on this model. A toll free customer support number is posted. So far so good. I've owned this phone for six months now. All in all I am very satisfied with this Casio G'zOne and would highly recommend this system to those that require a phone that can take a beating. Less

First let me tell you that I am an engineer that looks at detail and have worked with mil spec requirements for a long time. I got this phone after I read the Consumers Report recommendation. It was also reported to be able to take abuse and there were sites on the web that demonstrated survival from abuse. I have two big complaints. 1) The holster just never seemed to release the phone correctly after it is clipped to my belt. I believe the looped antenna end was to disengage first when coming out of the holster, but this was a difficult operation and resulted in releasing from the other end. Over time this apparently wore the ends of the clamp causing the phone to be less secure in the holster. After about a year the phone is now released at the wrong times. Good thing it is water proof because I expect it to go in the crapper one of these days; it just made two attempts to hit the urinal (yes I am a male). 2) When the phone hits the ground the battery flies out >50% of the time. Didn't see that happen in the video! The good is the "flashlight" feature where the LED flash can stay on and be used as a flashlight. This really comes in handy at times. Overall I don't recommend the phone because it does not take a drop very well and the holster is poorly designed. Less

i am a contractor. i work in rugged conditions each day, and this phone has been dropped 35' in the air and still works. it's been wet several times. a normal phone would only last me maybe 6-8 months. I have had this one almost 3 years in a row and it's never failed me. even in temps negative 10 or lower it still turns on and takes picture and makes calls. I wish it had bluetooth, but i'm ok without it. I am trying to find a new one for one this one dies. I have heard that the new boulder isn't as tough as this original. I wish verizon didn't feel the need to change phones every few months with new ones. this one is the original and the BEST in my opinion out of the rugged phones out there. HEY VERIZON, bring this phone back and it will outsell all the others for contractors or people who need a very rugged phone. Less

Then putting it away or taking it out I hit the buttons a few more times and I turn the ringer off/down/mute whatever and now I miss calls. I have yet to pick up this phone without screwing up settings - The buttons on the side S#@K - what were they thinking - didn't they test button placement b4 production? The store rep said - oh, why don't you just lock yourself out so you can not make changes - well great now I have to unlock the friggin phone b4 I can answer the call or make one - Now I know why the called it the Geez phone - I scream Geez-ous every time I have to use it! Yep, it's big, it's ugly, and you can't kill it! Like some others here, I am also a firefighter, and I ride horses. The phone I had before this got turned in 5 times on warranty in six months...apparently you were not supposed to actually USE that one. After sending Verizon a three page letter on why they were missing a huge market share by only having phones built for desk jockeys, this was their answer. GOOD answer!! I have dropped it running for the truck, sent it skittering 45 feet over concrete, covered it in mud and ashes, forgot it in the pocket of my turnout gear during a structure fire, and once accidentally left it in a snowbank for two hours. Now THAT'S a phone!! I love the size - I'm of a firm belief that you should not mistake your phone for a chiclet. I love the volume - it's stand next to a running diesel, wake you from a dead sleep, wake the dead in the next county when you need an alarm clock loud!! Unlike others here I have managed to scar the finish...(what can I say, I'm talented) but nothing that causes the phone to be unusable. I don't really care if it's pretty. The front bezel protected the window beautifully...it's still readable. This phone is designed to be used and abused. Perfect for people who work and play hard, and want a phone - not a pea sized laptop. Verizon service also insures that you have bars in some of the weirdest places! Less

I have dropped it on cement...and it still works. The sound is a little poor, and of course it is bulky. My husband doesn't care about the bulk, just tired of needing to replace his phone all the time. After a year of use and abuse, it still works like new. Definitely for the rugged outdoor guy who is hard on phones. Less
