We find the W710 to be an excellent implementation of a mobile phone, a portable music player, a personal digital trainer and a digital camera all-in-one.

Has some sports-centric features

How do I know it's 443 steps from my house to the taqueria? My cell phone told me so. The Sony Ericsson W710's built-in pedometer is just one of this phone's sports-centric features (a stopwatch and lap timer, are also available), but it's the music system where it really shines. Playing tunes from a Memory Stick Micro card (a 512MB card is included), the W710 really belts out the sound, either via headphones (an adapter and a basic pair are included) or via the internal speaker. When I accidentally hit the play button on the clamshell's exterior controls while the phone was in my pocket, I got angry at what I thought was some jerk driving by with his car stereo cranked up. That'll teach me not to use the lock switch...

WIRED Excellent audio-both music and voice- in a pint-sized package (just 3.6 ounces). Impressive talk time of 8 hours, 20 minutes. FM radio included, as are email support and web browsing.

TIRED Awfully thick, especially with pocket-unfriendly antenna bump. Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards are at least twice the price of MicroSD. Proprietary connector handles charging, USB connection, and headphones. White-gray-orange color scheme isn't pretty. 2-megapixel camera shots are unimpressive.

The phone surely has great of look and feel. Its rubber and metal construction is so solid it makes you proud of it. But the lack of 3G, the strange SIM card solution and some other minor drawbacks makes the score even. So, we think that if RIZR is offered on a reasonable price, it might just become a market hit. If the price satisfies you and the offered pack suites your needs, don't hesitate and give Motorola RIZR Being among the few sports-oriented mobile phones on the market, the Sony Ericsson W710 deserves a nice score just for the efforts the manufacturer has put in it and the risk taken. Nevertheless, we find the W710 to be an excellent implementation of a mobile phone, a portable music player, a personal digital trainer and a digital camera all-in-one. It's not a high-end device and it's not meant to be one. It's meant for fun and it manages to deliver what's expected . We at GSMArena.com would like to see more devices of that sort coming out on the market and competing for the hearts of the sports oriented audience. Because W710 surely managed to warm ours.Z3 a try.

I got this phone 6 months ago and am writing this as a counterpoint to all the reviews I read by people who had the phone for 5 minutes. I searched around for a good while before picking this phone. MP3 player with speaker has pretty good sound for such a small speaker. I work alone a lot and hate earbuds so the music is passable tho a bit tinny. I like the controls on the outside although you have to keep the lock on or it comes on at the most inoppotune times. The MP3 player has locked up on me a few time but turning it off and on fixes that. The FM radio is a nice touch for the jobsite, but plugging in the earbuds as an antenna then activating the speaker is a bit low rent. I still have to try and buy a cable to hook it up to my stereo like an I -pod. I bought a 2 Gig card for $50 and have loads of songs and pictures on it. I don`t think you can load pictures onto the phone like you can songs. The 2 mp camera is very good for a cell phone camera and the video works well. Design wise the camera lens is recessed into the body so if it is your pocket for a while lint and all sorts of crap gets stuck on the lens. After a couple of weeks I was severly dissapointed in the quality of the pictures only to examine the lens and find it full of junk. Now when ever I want to take a pic I have to ball up a corner of my shirt and try and clean it out. Major design flaw! I`ve see others with the lens level with the rest of the body, no problem. Filing everything away is pretty easy with good menus and novelty things like music compositon, adding music to video and a few other things I used for the first month and then forgot about. The games that came with suck as they are demos and you play for a level or two and then you have to buy the game. Give me a break, it`s a $300 phone, at least give us a free game or 2. I don`t message so I can`t comment on that. My old Motorola 360 was a reliable phone and I liked that you could see how long a call was in the call history but you can`t on the Sony. The ringtones suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was able to download an old telephone ring (Ringlord) with some heavenly singing interspersed(weird!) but I fooled around a bit too much(about half an hour) and was dinged with a $30 internet charge. YIKES!! Live and learn. I don`t use the organizer, preferring a book with real paper so I can`t comment. It has bluetooth capability which I haven`t taken advantage of yet. I love the size, not too big, not too small, just right. Oh yea, the most important thing. Does it make phone calls? Yes it does and quite nicely. I have had a couple of dropped calls and the reception is OK but not as good as my old Motorola which suprises me as Fido uses Rogers(my wife's provider with my old Motorola) network. I thought it would have the same reception on the same network so I can only say it is the phone that is creating the so-so reception. Not bad but not what I was used to. These are all nit-picks. I love this phone and hope Sony reps read these reviews and make some improvements. Then it would be perfect! All in all I would recommend the Sony Ericsson Z710 as a pretty good phone with tons of features. Less

W710, weak points

from eBay
It's a very nice mobile, It has memory slot, good sound quality, MP3 player, RDS radio a motion sensor for the sport exercises (running, walking etc). Although it has 2MP camera quality is poor. After 6 months of non intensive use rubber strip got off the cover, so you will need a new cover very soon (about 10 $).

I love the sony W710i flip phone. There is a slide button on the side which locks the phone. I know the Samsung flip phone has the button for the camera on the side and when this is in your bag or pocket the button can be pressed and take photos, whereas this little beauty is locked and nothing will happen. My other reason for a flip phone is because the ordinary phone can still dial 999 even although the keypad is locked. Sony ericsson well I don't need to say anymore creme de la creme, battery life excellent. Less

The Free iPhone Guide To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps: Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work. http://Gifts.real-incentives.com/2992 (copy and paste into browser) You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately! Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone! Step 3 : Refer some friends This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like y... Less
