The "1-Minute" Review
While you won’t find any dramatic overhauls in this latest Samsung, the SPH-M520 is a quality slider with a thoughtful design.
One new addition is “Power Vision”, which is a service offered by Sprint that offers live news and sports TV feeds, streaming radio, fast web browsing, direct access to Sprint’s music store, game downloads and inexpensive video bundles. Power Vision is integrated nicely into the SPH-M520 through a new layer in the user interface which, from the standby screen, provides seven shortcut icons that take you to email, GPS, Sprint TV, music store, etc.
Boasting a 2.1 inch 176X220 pixel screen, everything shows well and is easy on the eyes. You can adjust the brightness of the screen as well.
The Samsung SPH-M520 includes a 1.3MP camera (no flash), stereo Bluetooth, USB mass storage, the ability to backup contact lists wirelessly, and an audible caller ID which will run through your Bluetooth headset.
The exterior is a typical slider design, and the weight and dimensions make for easily handling. A volume rocker and charger port is located on the left spine, and the camera button and microSD slot are located on the right.
The SPH-M520 provides good call quality, the ability to surf the web, email, text, send multimedia tests, sync to your PC and will keep you from getting lost via Telenav (additional monthly fee).
While it would have been nice if Samsung moved the feature set further, the SPH-M520 is still an excellent slider.
