First-time Android smartphone buyers may start to feel overwhelmed when trying to find the perfect beginner’s handset. As more and more phones are coming out with the Android OS, it’s getting more difficult to spot the really good ones worthy of your hard earned dollars. This is not the case with the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim, which is a full-touchscreen Android-powered offering that has “pick me as your first smartphone” written all over it.
The Proclaim’s highlights include a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display with curved glass, 3-megapixel built-in camera, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It uses a speedy 1GHz processor and comes with over 1GB of internal storage space and 1GB of RAM, so problems with the default software and third-party applications will be a rare occurrence.
Speaking of applications, there are plenty of free and premium ones available for the Galaxy Proclaim on the Google Play software store. And the 1,500mAh standard battery should let users spend as much as an entire day fiddling with these apps in the absence of a charging station. It’s also good for up to 5.5 hours of talk time with every full charge.
It does run an older version of Android and lacks features like 4G or NFC, but user and reviewer feedback on this phone have been thus far very positive.
