Pro: long battery life Con: Too bad all my calls are dropped This phone is horrible. Calls are constantly dropped and the quality of reception is very poor. I thought the camera would be awesome but it is just "good". Not so different from 1.3 megapixel counterpart. Don't buy this unless you want your calls to be dropped all the time. So far everyone else with a Verizon phone has better reception. Less

Pro: Camera quality, phone features, phone quality Con: Low battery life when using camera, video, messaging I recently purchased this phone and so far, so good. The 3.2 megapixel camera has awesome quality. Many have reviewed this phone saying that there is no zoom feature for the still image camera mode. There is!! You have to change the resolution in the camera options menu. I believe you have to go to the 1024 resolution setting, then you can zoom. Sound quality has been great and the reception has been good, no different than my previous phone. My only gripe so far is that the battery life has not been good. I send a lot of text and pic messages and that could be the reason. When I do this, the battery drains quickly. Overall, it's an awesome phone that I highly recommend. Less

Pro: nice camera Con: terrible phone because you cant do anything via computer Trying to make this camera use a phone book manager is impossible and why else would you buy it? Just to listen to music which is not that good either. Service from Samsung is non existent. My lcd went bad without dropping it or sitting on it. On a hot take I took it from my pocket and waala, i had abig inkspot looking blurb in the middle of it. Send it back to Samsung via Verizon instruction and I never saw the phone again? I am so mad I could throw up on both Verizon and Samsung. After six samsung phones I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG. THIS PHONE SUCKS Do not buy it if you are into computers and like to program your phone via a phone manager. The complicate instructions samsung gives you to even try are rediculous. Why didn't I buy a motorola or any other phone. Hope I do not sound more than unbias. Less

like all of the phones now being offered by verizon, this phone had its ability to play mp3s disabled by verizon. like the lg 8700 my kid got and a new 8300 a friend got, verizon changed the software to eliinate your ability to enter the 'secret' menu and enable mp3 playback. the camera takes great pictures. had to add an internal antenna booster to prevent calls from dropping- my old lg phones with the external antenna stub ( 8100, 8300) had much better reception. if you want to playback mp3s, better to go with at&t samsung synch instead of verizon. wma versions of the music sound like cr*p compared to mp3s. but corporate greed for profits wants to force you to buy songs from them instead of transferring your mp3s to amicro card for playback. btw, unlike lg phones, this model has two secret menus. Had the phone almost 8 month, everything seems fine except the reception. Thought it was the area but as time goes by it got worse. I gave verizon a benefit of doubt since the claim they are #1. Last week I took my inlaw phone(Verizon also) Chocolate phone. LG worked flawsly in every area where A990 did not work. Talk to Verizon rep on 611 for hour and they call me couple days later and told me to take the phone in to one of the service area. Took the phone and my phone did not work in their store LOL. So they will send me another phone in 2days. Oh yeah, here is the kicker, I asked is it a new phone? They say, nope, refurbished phone. So I figure I will get the phone you guys returned. Probably not working, end up sending it back again and again... but I got a word from the that if they changed more than 3 times, they would give me a different brand of phones. Hope a new one. Not likely. So, same issues on most of the users out there and the person who said 15th phone or 4th in a month ..verizon will give you choice of other brand of phone. after the 3rd one, why would you get a same phone? and I don't think verizon will change 15 times. Only major complaint is you can only use zoom in video mode, not for still pictures. Less

Pro: camera, good solid construction, TV out port Con: terrible phone quality (both reception, and call quality) I got this, and was so excited I now had a decent camera phone, so I would not have to haul around my camera with me. I upgraded from a lg vx8600. The camera is just ok, but the lg vx8600 is a much better phone. I was really dissapointed with the call quality. My LG would work in many more locations than the 990. Battery life is poor, but with the extended batter it's decent. I'm not your average phone buyer... part of my job is making buy decisions on technology (i.e. phones). I've tested over 15 phones in the past 2 months. Fortunately I only bought 2 of these phones. One for myself, and one for a VP (He hates it as well). I applaud Samsung for their innovation, but I MUST have a better product (the i700 was great!) I recommend you stay away from this phone. Wait... better camera phones (higher resolution) are coming. I've never written a review about anything before, but felt compelled.... this phone is CRAP. I'm going back to my LG Less
