Very durable but poor reception

It is much more durable than today's phones but reception/connectivity is bad. The screen resolution sucks

Better than my new phone

Although I've to admit that the reception quality is poor, it is, after all, a multimedia phone. I like it for its neat little functions and slide capability. It's definitelly better than my other phone, Samsung Hype. I would recommend j706 for anyone with a little more money to spare.

Horrible reception, would not recommend

There might be other phones like it out there, and it might not have the BEST connectivity at times, but Regardless, It comes in handy for quick Internet browsing. (I use it to see the news headlines on Google Very often.) A worthwhile purchase to anyone looking to get their first cellphone. Less

Its an OK lil phone

i think one of the best features of this phone is that fact that you can block numbers from calling and texting you. Another neat feature is all the lil settings you can use with the camera! The not so great features would be The headset/FM antenna is of the greatest quality, could have a lil more features to.

Anyone that wants to get a Pay-As-You-Go phone here in Ontario, Canada through Rogers, SHOULD get the Samsung J706. Amazing little phone. Numerous features for a 100 dollar phone, FM Radio, MP3 Player, Camera, useful applications, oh yeah and a phone, too!! Even Figured out how to convert some of my DVD movies into mp4s (only with AMR audio though), using a freeware video conversion program called SUPER 2009. Had this for now 14 months, and will keep using it until it dies. Probably won't though, dropped it about 6 time on sidewalks, and still works great afterwards. Go buy it! Less

Music player isnt anything too good, and i find u cant send some bluetooth files to another phone (ie custom ringtones). Speaking of ringtones, not sure if this is just a rogers thing, but it wont allow any non-downloaded ringtone to be set as a ringtone. Real bummer if you don't wanna dish out 4 bucks for a 20 sec ringtone -_-. Texting is kinda hard due to the smaller area of the buttons, but is doable. Camera is pretty good at its highest resolution, it looks better on your comp than it will on the phone though. Less

Good Pay As You Go Phone From Rogers

This is my very first phone. I decided i didn't need a contract because id only be using a phone for texting and little calling. First off when i was setting this phone up the rogers the service was great for me even after hearing so many negatives about it i had no problem. The phone itself is basic, it looks very nice, small and light. As i said texting is what i mainly use it for and ive had no problem what so ever there with the phone. I live out in the country up in northwestern Ontario and i always have service which is nice. The reception quality i get when talking to the phone is amazing which i was also very happy about. this phone has a 1.8MP camera and video recorder which is nice and the quality is very good. The battery on this phone i also find to be Very good as i can go about 3 days without charging and i use it quite often. A few things that i have issues with it is that the sound for when i receive a text is too quiet and the vibration does do justice either so i have to check my phone often in louder environments. I also had it freeze on me for a moment twice when i receive a text and i slide it open the keys wouldn't respond until i closed it and slid it open again but that's minor. I have had this phone for a month and let me say if you need a good inexpensive pay as you go phone with rogers i say go for it. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Reception quality, Simple and easy to use, Good camera, Good texting, Good Battery Lilfe Cons: Quiet ringer for texts received, vibration isnt good Less

Fragile Screen

After not even 2 month, the screen broke, looks like a little pression on the screen may completely damage it. C'mon, it's not that bad.

Sure, it's not that fancy, but you get what you pay for. This is a phone for people who want a phone - it's good for calls and texting but not much else. Sure, it's not that fancy, but you get what you pay for. This is a phone for people who want a phone - it's good for calls and texting but not much else. I don't understand why people are so disappointed, i mean what were you looking for? The camera is what you would expect from a cheap cellphone camera - don't expect to shoot any magazine covers with this thing. The same idea kind of spreads to the other applications of the phone, so if you're planning on using your phone for more than making calls then it's probably best to look elsewhere. The one thing that I did find particularly disappointing was the music player interface - it really sucks. Making playlists, finding songs and basically just listening to music is a pain in the butt. This ain't no ipod, that's for sure. But like I'm trying to say, if that's what you want, buy a smartphone or something. Less
