RATING

6.4/10
Informr score
The Samsung F266 currently has an Informr score of 6.4 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 26 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

The Samsung F226 is a cost-effective slider that offers quality features and lightweight design.

When closed, the F226 is attractive in a minimalist way, with a dominant 2.1-inch, 176 x 240 pixel display, and a lighted navigational array. It’s essentially a launch pad for whatever you would like to do.

Thin and sexy, the F266 offers one-touch button access to your music, 2.0 MP camera (with flash and self-portrait mirror), and spine controls for volume, charging and memory expansion.

Slide it open and you’ll find a roomy alpha-numeric keypad, also well lit. The F266 comes with FM stereo, MP3 player, and Bluetooth.

Folks looking for a simple but competent phone with good call quality and the ability to do a little extra should consider the Samsung F266.

Pros: Slim, minimalist design. Easy OS.

Cons: Limited to being a decent phone, without the extras that move it to the next tier.

Verdict: A good phone for people who like sliders and do not want anything complicated.

Works fantastic for me...

I've dropped it many times and there are a few dings in it but it doesn't affect how it works and no silver or anything else, is coming off of it. I love the large memory in it and that it takes such a large external mini SD so I've got lots of music. It's a great phone and I just lost it! In fact I'm considering getting another as a replacement. Less

Bad Phone

I bought the phone over a year ago; after two months the chrome paint around the main button started to come off; a big chunk is peeled off now. Some months ago the phone started to freeze. Now it sometimes freezes or it reboots itself. Some weeks ago it started to freeze even during reboots; lately it keeps rebooting itself indefinitely. I took the battery off for three days and managed to reboot the phone but it continues to freeze randomly; answering a call, dialing, adding a contact .. at any moment. Don't throw your money away, buy something else. Less

The Samsung F266 is a SURVIVOR

I have not had this cell phone long but in the short time I have had it - it fell into a paint tray of yellow paint; got totally covered in paint and I grabbed it out, wiped it off and it still works just fine.

Basically it will suck eventually

I loved this phone for about 7 mos but all of a sudden.... it locks, then freezes now the pad is un useable. At first I thought it was " user mistakes" and wondered what I kept doing wrong. Its life is too short and who wants to fuss with fixing it when you can get a i phone. Bye bye samsung!

horrible!!!

the phone looked good...worked good for a while...n then the trouble started....first the battery life decreased like anything! it does not stay charged for even a whole day...mine is just 8 months old...one day a couple of buttons stopped working...n now all the buttons have stopped working altogether...More

whoever gave this 10/10 must have never used a cell phone before

I'm thinking of switching back to my beat up old sony ericsson. This phone works okay as a phone, but the interface is a bit like playing atari in 1985: slow and tedious. Whoever designed this didn't think things through. The MP3 player is fine unless you want to listen to more than one song in a row. The player stops after each song, if you can believe it, so you can't just enjoy your music like you would have on say, a bottom of the line ghetto blaster from, say 1987. Also, you can't skip songs. You have to stop the song you're listening to, and then go back to the song menu. And, if you want to check the time while a song is playing, you have to exit the music player and it doesn't hold your place in the song. This is kind of annoying. The camera isn't very good. The phone tries to connect to the internet as soon as you turn it on. And the graphics are bad too. Less

Reasonable...

Only now am I starting to see a few glitches appear: -the battery life has gotten much shorter (it lasts only a day and a half, and I'm not a phone addict) -when in T9 mode, it often texts in the language opposite to the one it is set in, for no apparent reason Other than that, I wish there were more options regarding the menu style/font of the phone. It performs very well and other that what I mentionned above, I have no major complaints. It's worth the money, but it easily seems boring compared to the new phones coming out, and the lack of a QWERTY keyboard makes life a bit hard. Less

DONT BUY

this phone worked pretty well, until it stared to malfunction. it would turn off and on, it would freeze, calls would hang up, i sent it back to fido and they couldn't fix it, and i am now waiting for it o come back from its second trip to the samsung fixer.

A good phone, but it is only a phone...

I am using this phone for 3 months now and I can say that I was expecting more. It work well as a phone, but if you want more, look somewhere else. The navigation is very slow, and the interface is ugly and too complex for nothing. Using this phone is like using my dad's phone from the early 2000's......More

Ohhh and it does'nt work with mac computers, even if the fido seller told me it would. Don't expect more than talking with this phone. Less
