A powerful business tool

Nokia E71 is a powerful business tool - in fact it is one of the most capable we've ever seen. Plus, it has completed the demanding task of adding style and slick looks to the QWERTY messenger breed. The performance of Nokia E71 is praiseworthy, save for the below-par camera.

Rarely has a handset had us so impressed so quickly as the E71. The Nokia messenger seems a great purchasing option if you're after a device of this kind. We still feel a fair warning is due for those upgrading from E61 - the keypad and screen of E71 are notably smaller. If they can live with that though, nothing stands between them and the pure messenger power unleashed. As for the ones who like the business features but aren't so much into QWERTY keyboards - E66 is the way to go...

We admit to a tinge of excitement over a great rivalry shaping up with BlackBerry Bold. But it's fair to say that at this point every day of Bold delay is Nokia's gain, securing the E71 stand as the single ruler of the QWERTY messenger realm. It seems at least one long wait was well worth it.

A lighter alternative that can manage both your professional and personal life with great ease

There’s a good quality A-GPS chip. Coupled with Nokia Maps, it gives access to real time maps (you’ll need to subscribe for voice guidance). Without forgetting GSM cell-ID positioning, which, though not as precise as the GPS, can be of service. Finally, to return to one of the phones well-thought out features: though the diary has evolved and is now more functional, it is once again behind the Blackberry, again largely because of the screen. The E71 remains a very good phone and is a very viable, more accessible alternative to the Bold. As long as you’re not interested in very advanced multimedia navigation, the E71 is a good choice, especially for people whose personal and professional lives tend to enroach on one another!

MobileBurn

Very pocketable, good looking, and it supports both HSDPA 3G and WiFi

from MobileBurn

As a pure business phone, the Nokia E71's enterprise email support leaves something to be desired. There is no BlackBerry support at all, and the Exchange client, which otherwise handles push email, contacts, appointments, and tasks flawlessly, doesn't support email folders. That's going to be a deal breaker for some, to be sure. But for more casual business users, the E71's vast array of features is going to be very, very attractive.

The E71 is very pocketable, good looking, and it supports both HSDPA 3G data as well as WiFi. It has a fine QWERTY keyboard, and the S60 browser looked great on the E71's QVGA resolution display. I'd really like better enterprise email support in a device like this, but I still feel that the E71 is worthy of a "Highly Recommended" rating for the vast majority of the world that doesn't depend on BlackBerry support....

A smart device that gives the iPhone a run for its money in a lot of different areas

from Wired

The E71 looks more like a Blackberry killer, but don't be fooled: This great white hope from Finland is a smart device that gives the iPhone a run for its money in a lot of different areas (yes, really).

Despite its obvious lack of an oversized touchscreen interface, Nokia wins points for a remarkably trim profile (10mm vs. 12.3mm), decent 3.2-megapixel camera (instead of 2.0), and the fact it's not tied to any carrier (yet). Most of all, we're stoked they avoided the overcrowded iClone bandwagon by sticking to what they do best: gorgeous hardware packed with a satisfying range of fun(ctional) features...

But one problem i do have with it is that occasionally (right from day one) the menu screen doesn't come up when u press the menu button. the blue-tooth messes up when this happens so u have to restart the phone. I've done a master reset and it didn't fix. Most of the time its a good phone though. Less

It has great business tools, keyboard is better than BB in my opinion. The map/GPS features are excellent. And auto-email from various accounts (hotmail, gmail, work, etc) is a must. It interacts with my windows PC and macbook flawlessly. The camera is adequate, I don't listen to much music on it, but it has some satellite radio feature. It's a great business phone with some extra bonuses that work well, its not a phone for teens who want music, games and picture resolution. That's what an iPhone is for. Less
