The "1-Minute" Review
Verdict
An example of Motorola's ability to make the right compromises to keep the balance between price and features, the Motorola Edge 20 Lite keeps most of the essentials of their newest lineup while still leaving room in your budget! The Motorola Edge 20 Lite offers a decent phone for a budget price. Some areas of the specs were slightly diminished from the other two models in the lineup while keeping some of the more essential details. Here’s a quick comparison between the Edge 20 Lite and the Edge 20 to give you an idea of what to expect.
What’s the Same
- 8GB of RAM
- 6.7-inch OLED screen
- Android 11
- In-display fingerprint authentication
What’s Different
- 128GB of storage with MicroSD expansion slot
- 5,000mAh battery
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Mediatek Dimensity 720 chipset
- No optical zoom
The budget version implied by its name, the Motorola Edge 20 Lite, cuts costs by using a lesser chipset, a lower refresh rate and storage.
However, it offers a MicroSD slot for storage expansion which the other two phones do not.
The camera is slightly less than the other two, which could have drawbacks for those who like phone photography.
Finally, there aren’t any fancy colour choices or materials here like we saw with the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, instead opting for the less expensive polycarbonate.
But in all, it shares a huge portion of the user experience with its larger (and pricier) sibling. For more on what to expect from this new Motorola release, check out our Motorola Edge 20 Pro review summary!
What the Critics Are Saying...
- Sean Cameron, Tech AdvisorThe Moto Edge 20 Lite is a mid-range smartphone with a lot going for it, including a good screen and dependable battery life. With disappointing cameras, average performance and only a mono speaker, however, it doesn’t quite do enough to earn a recommendation.
- Marcus Herbrich, NotebookcheckThe Motorola Edge 20 Lite offers an appealing basis for a mid-range phone with its slim user interface including Ready-For features, 5G, very good endurance including fast charging times, and the 90 Hz OLED screen. The broad LTE coverage is also not a matter of course in this price range.
- Andrew Williams, TechRadarThe Motorola Edge 20 Lite is a decent, reasonably affordable 5G Android phone in most respects. It has a large OLED screen, clean software and good day-to-day performance. However, it costs more than the best of the value-packed competition, the camera fumbles its dynamic range processing, and batte...
- Sean Cameron, TrustedReviewsThe Moto Edge 20 Lite on paper doesn’t bring as much to the table as the competition. But with a great HDR OLED screen, good battery life, strong performance and a charming software skin, it will reward anyone willing to take the plunge and pick it up. Sometimes a smartphone is all about experience,...
- Aleksandar Anastasov, PhoneArenaWith a price tag of only € 369.99, the Edge 20 Lite is dangerously appealing. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely has its downfalls, a good example being its video shooting capabilities. However, considering the bang for your buck ratio we have here, the positives heavily outnumber the negatives. The...
