The "1-Minute" Review

The LG LX-160 is one of those “other” phones made by a company known for its sleek, thin brushed metal entries such as the Shine, LX 8700, Prada, etc. But while the LX-160 may not earn its own display booth at a consumer electronics show, it is nonetheless a competent entry that gets the job done.

The LG LX-160 is a small clamshell with good sound quality and provides the user a straight forward application mix, including a task list, world clock, memo pad, and alarm clock. It is Bluetooth capable (up to 20 pairings) and includes voice activated dialing, customizable caller ID and a dedicated text key.

The external display is a humble .83” x .63” STN (96 x 94 pixels), but gets the job done by displaying useful information including time, signal strength, day and date. The internal display is 1.10” x 1.38” (138 x 160 pixels). The keypad is comprised of large buttons that respond well and are easy to press without error.

Web access, email and IM support round out the feature set off this affordable and phone.

The LG LX-160 is a great choice for users looking for a simple, reliable cell phone that includes a practical set of features at a very affordable price.

4 years of quality service

Battery

The Battery Life On These Lg 160 Sucks. I Sent It Back They Sent Me Another. Same Crap. Make 3 Phone Calls Maybe 1- 2 Minutes Each The Battery Is Crapped Out. Don,t Buy One. If you Chose To Make Sure That You Get A Postage Stamped Envelope So You Can Send It Back. Crap. I.ll Stay With My Old Telus . For Now.

I had to keep resetting it by removing the battery. Eventually it wouldn't reboot. So I used my warranty and sent it back in. Next problem was they replaced parts of it and I was a new cell phone user. I had quite a time understanding why I couldn't set it back up, and why tech support couldn't help me. It had a new ESN# and the code to reconnect it was different for phones purchased online, apparently... I had to figure out the right things to tell support, had I not, I would have never gotten it reconnected. After that ordeal, I haven't had any trouble. But given the opportunity, I would try something else. Less

I am unable to access some of the applications that I purchased from my carrier and the phone will frequently "freeze" up. The phone will ring but I cannot hear, nor am I heard by, the caller. Occasionally, the only way I can turn the phone off is by removing the back and the battery. Even "free", I cannot reccomend this phone Less

Some Are LEMONS

So to see for myself I called my cell from another phone and waved the cell around and sure enough it was a distorted mess of a signal. Some calls did not ring through as well and this is in the city where the signal is strong. Had to buy and $80 Samsung. Everything is fine now. Less

Excellent for a cheap phone

It has worked perfectly for me, never dropped a call. Easily worth the $50.

Junk phone at a cheap price

I've had this phone for 8 months. My wife and I both have monthly plans with Virgin. She has the Samsung m 510 which has great reception and call quality. I've had this phone for 8 months. My wife and I both have monthly plans with Virgin. She has the Samsung m 510 which has great reception and call quality. The LG 160 constantly cuts out and drops calls. At home, my wife's Samsung has no issues with clarity and reception but the LG 160 has terrible sound quality and doesn't always ring when calls come in. It's not a network or tower issue as my wife's phone always works and our house is 500 metres and a clear line of site to the nearest Bell tower (who's network virgin uses). There is a reason this phone was so cheap. Avoid it at all costs. If you want a basic phone, go with a Samsung. Today it quit working altogether. Won't turn on or accept a charge. Less

One good one bad.

I've had two. One is still working flawlessly for over a year now. The second after three months the arrow keys and menu button have stopped working making texting impossible. So I would say 5/10. Its a simple basic phone that is cheap and if it werent for the faulty buttons I would say 8/10 but....

Good basic phone

This is a great, easy to use, reliable phone. I have had one for over a year and it works fine, has no weak points or problems with it's design.
