The LG Dare is a streamlined touch screen device with a robust user interface. It is a sleek, non-smartphone alternative that relies solely on its interface rather than a slide-out Qwerty or other such secondary input method. The outer shell is comprised of black plastic and chrome accents.
The front of the phone is dominated by a large, three inch display (measured diagonally), offering an impressive 240 x 400 pixel resolution, supporting up to 262K colors. An integrated light sensor automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness based on external light levels.
The Dare offers a wonderful minimalist design, with only three physical buttons on the front of the phone for “send”, “clear/voice command” and “end/power”.
The main menu is a simple and easy-to-use collection of colorful icons. From this position users can get launch applications or dive into menus for other tasks. Either way the interface is very intuitive and thoughtful.
One concern is that when a phone relies entirely on its touchscreen, sensitivity and responsiveness become an important concern. You may want to play with a Dare before making a decision as it does not function with the same smoothness as an iPhone.
Among the Dare’s exceptional features are a 3.2MP camera with slow-motion video, customizable interface, built-in accelerometer and a 3.5mm headset jack.
The Dare offers 275.4MB of internal memory and is microSD expandable. It is rated at 4.7 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time.
