Not So Bad After All

I got this phone over three years ago. It doesn't have many features, but it has worn like iron and that matters more. The lack of a speakerphone setting really annoys me, I'll admit, and so does the lack of a camera phone, but those weren't common features back in 2004. The vanity mirror is kind silly, but I have to admit that has been very useful to me over the years. (Which isn't to say a display in its place wouldn't have been more useful, but at least a mirror isn't totally useless to carry around.) Some people have said they have problems with reception using this phone. This has never been a problem for me, but the coverage area could have something to do with that. I actually get better coverage with this phone than most of my AT&T friends do on their newer devices. After three years of use, I'm retiring this phone for an updated, unlocked phone. It has been dropped, rained on (heavily,) and even thrown long distances, but it still works fine to this day. A sick, girly, self-absorbed part of me is thinking, "What am I going to do now that my cell phone doesn't have a vanity mirror?" (Another part of me is psyched to finally have a camera-phone.) Less

I have had this phone for exactly 2 years this month. In fact my husband will have his 2 years in August. At first I thought it was a great little phone, pretty sturdy. I was blaming myself for the dropped calls saying it was probably a bad area (downtown Nashville!!!) or something. Well after having the phone a year, my screen went blank. The phone continued to work fine, beyond the dropped calls, but I couldn't see anything, like who was calling, or if I had a message, etc. After fighting with Cingular and LG about the problem, I decided to take it to a seperate place to get it fixed, because I was not going to sign up for another 2 years with Cingular! The man at the repair place told me that this phone was notorious for dropping calls, and for the wire coming loose that keeps the screen working. After getting into my phone he realized my phone was getting too hot and had melted the pins on the board inside that keep the thing lit. He said it was common for an LG. Needless to say, he fixed it, but if it goes out again, I will never buy LG again, much less stay with Cingular. Now my phone has to be charged 2X a day, when it used to work for 2 days before loosing any bars. Talk about durability! Never again. Less

Wouldn't need more!

Other reviews seem to bash it. Personnaly I loved mine! Good sound quality, no drop calls ever, amazing battery life and I have been pretty rough with mine and it hasn't died yet! Sure it does scratch easily but nevertheless it's been a very good phone for the past year.

It's a good phone for what it is - a low cost, no frills phone.90 percent of the time, the phone works fine. The funny thing is that I get a lot of drops, even though I have 4 or 5 bars of signal strength and other Cingular users are having no problems next to me. Maybe the phone has a low-cost antenna/receiver or something... Less

God-awful phone

from Amazon
I don't need my cell phone to take pictures, play music, access the internet, or do my taxes for me. I just want it to work. I just want to be able to hear the person I'm talking to and function as a phone. That's it. This phone fails even that basic test. Stay away from it. It will turn your hair gray.

it gets horrible reception except in the most covered area. i live less than a mile from a major shopping center with a tower and i get no reception standing in my front yard. i have to call three or four times before my call goes through because i get "network busy" or "call ended" signals incessantly. ive had it for less than 6 months and the screen is very loose at the hinge. the buttons lose their spring action quickly and several of the buttons backlighting have already begun to fade. poor signal poor design poor quality minimum of features and it cost me $180 without signing up for another two years on my contract.
