Huawei MediaPad 10 review

7/10 AVG.

Informr score
The Huawei MediaPad 10 currently has an Informr score of 7 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 6 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

There are only a handful of 10-inch tablets with full HD screens available on the market today, and the Huawei MediaPad 10 is one of them. It comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed and 4G LTE connectivity. In other words, it is fully equipped to handle most any mobile computing task that might be thrown at it, from wherever. And it will handle all while looking sleek and feeling lightweight, to boot. Many big name brands have been in the mobile computing device game far longer than Huawei. And yet offerings from many of these same companies are lagging behind the MediaPad 10, whether in terms of hardware or software features. It not only comes with 4G LTE, but also HSPA+, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. So you’re sure to have a mobile Internet connection whenever you like.

But perhaps the most interesting thing about this tablet is the fact that it houses a full HD resolution 10-inch screen in its 9mm thin casing. It also features a 6600 mAh battery, 8MP auto-focus camera with dual-LED flash, GPS with A-GPS, HDMI and microUSB ports, as well as support for microSD cards. This is to augment the available storage space onboard, which can be 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB.

One of the few things that might look kind of bad is the default operating system, which is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. An update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean may be released before the end of 2012, but if you need to get your hands on the latest version of Android right now, then you may want to explore other options.

So the game is reliant on the draw of challenges and online rankings for replay value. It kind of works. Although the strategy model is paper-thin, battling against the clock and the odds on the harder levels isn't easy. You need to adopt a more analytical, puzzle-like approach to succeed. There's no...

The design department does not take new approaches in looks. A silver back cover consisting of aluminum is not unusual among other manufacturers. It looks different with the hardware. All in all, the MediaPad makes a good impression. However, compromises have to be made. Huawei has more or les...

This device is a rather nice addition to the Android tablet universe, and certainly offers up a unique option where otherwise you’d be handling either a Samsung tablet or going over to Apple for an iPad. If you’re thinking about grabbing the highest quality Android tablet on the market t...

- Chris Burns, SlashGear

When it was teased earlier this year, Huawei's MediaPad 10 was shaping up to be a screamer. But in the slow crawl to market, its cutting-edge specs became commonplace for the Android tablet space. Sure, the combination of a quad-core proprietary CPU, full HD 1,920 x 1,200 IPS display, Android 4.0, a...

- Joseph Volpe, Engadget

The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is a solid tablet that lives up to its name (and spec sheet). Video, games, and web browsing look great on the 1080p display and the quad-core CPU handles all with care. Users looking for the latest and greatest might be disappointed with the tablet’s Ice Cream Sandw...
