What is the best for distance ? My wifes works in the neighbors yard but not her sisters and they are a ways out of town?

Hi teresita! I tried using portable Wi-Fi devices before, and as far as my experience go, Smart provides better connection over Globe. Smart offers 2 portable Wi-Fi gadget at this moment: 4G Pocket Wifi (link) and LTE Pocket Wi-Fi (link).

With regards to prepaid data plans, they offer the following:
    >> Always On 2499 - All month surfing for all apps & sites up to 15GB with Spinnr streaming and Opera Max
    >> Always On 1799 - All month surfing for all apps & sites up to 10GB with Spinnr streaming and Opera Maxaming and Opera Max
    >> Always On 995 - All month surfing for all apps & sites up to 5GB with Spinnr streaming and Opera Max
    >> Always On 499 - All month surfing for all apps & sites up to 5GB with Spinnr streaming and Opera Max

There are cheaper plans, visit Smart website: Click here

I still suggest checking Globe's offers.
They currently offer 3 portable Wi-Fi devices: Click here

They offer similar prepaid data plans, but instead of Spinnr they offer Spotify Premium or HOOQ.

Check Globe prepaid data plans here: Click here

If there's anything else, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Hope that helps!

Here are some pocket Wi-Fi devices available in the Philippines. It's hard to tell which one is the best since I haven't personally used any of them. I added a review link for each device. Hopefully these reviews can help you figure out which one maybe the best for you.

ZTE MF60 4G MiFi (Smart Pocket WiFi)
"The hardware is impressive and the network connectivity has been very satisfactory both on Globe and Smart networks. I didn’t include speed tests for Sun Cellular since they don’t have HSPA+ yet. The only downside of this unit is the retail price — Php7,500 a pop" - YugaTech read more

    Huawei E5 Pocket MiFi
"If you love your Globe Tattoo or SmartBro dongle, you’ll love the Huawei E5 even more. I seriously don’t know how to live without it anymore. The Php5,995 price tag is worth every peso. If you own more than 1 WiFi-capable devices, Huawei E5 is a must-have gadget." - YugaTech read more

Huawei E586 (Smart Rocket WiFi Plus)
"If you’re always on the road and carry multiple devices with you, the Huawei E586 with it’s HSPA+ capability gives you the most optimized connection while mobile. However, please remember that the device is only as good as the network it is connected to. The ideal set up is to get an unlocked MyFi and carry multiple prepaid SIM cards with you just to make sure you can switch networks anytime, anywhere." - YugaTech read more

    Huawei E5832 (Sun Cellular MyWIFI)
"If you have a few devices (smartphone, PSP, iPad, computer, etc) that needs to connect to Internet while you are traveling, get the E5832 wireless modem. It is small and easy to use. The major drawback would be the 4 hours battery life. If you use a notebook, then it is not a problem. And, it is little pricey." - LiewCF Tech Blog read more

Huawei E5830 3G router (Globe MyFi)
"This useful device from 3 will give you a Wi-Fi network on the move via a mobile signal so you can connect multiple devices to a single connection at the same time. Its portability, ease of use and all-round excellent peformance is certainly impressive and offers far more than a USB dongle." - Trusted Reviews read more
