Helen, try going into the Settings to activate the General sound profile manually. Launch the Settings app, go to Audio profiles, and make sure that General is selected. On the right there should be a button that lets you see the actual sound settings under the General sound profile. Go through the options to make sure that sounds are active and that ringtones have been selected for certain events (like Voice calls, Video calls, etc.).

Hi Helen, can you check to make sure that the Huawei Ascend Y210 isn't set to Silent or Meeting mode in the audio profiles? While you are on the home screen, just press the volume up button a couple of times to activate notification sounds. Tell us in case this doesn't work!
