Is Telus really buying off Microcell?

Wow! it's been such a long time I haven't been here...

I don't get it... Why is telus trying to buy microcell? Don't they run in a total different system of network?
As far as I know, Microcell is a GSM network provider and Telus is CDMA and PCS?? Can anyone explain this to me??

Thanks

well all i got from a insider not too long ago, that fido is pretty much the "front line" for telus now. most of microcell's lines are with telus switch board and fido is still gonna get the "ok" service that they always had. i hope that clears up wit the readers.

My personal view of the proposal to buy Microcell is because of the City Fido plans. Thay are biteing in to Telus in both B.C. and Ont. So why not just buy them up and switch there clients over to Telus PCS. Then Telus subscriber base will grow by that much makeing them one of the lagrest Telecomunication companys in north america. Plus you will now only have three providers to choose from in canada. Telus, Bell and Rogers. So if you look at it form there point of view you realy only have two Telell ( Telus and bell combined as thay roam onto each other in difrent parts of canada) and rogers. So take your choice big dog communications companys or nothing. The choice is yours.

Microcell offers CDMA and PCS coverage... Fido is part of Microcell that offers GSM service...
