What can you say about Rogers’ service in Ottawa?

I'm moving to Ottawa and hoping to use a cell phone instead of a landline.
any suggestions for a reliable cell phone service provider?

I've been looking into Rogers because of their cable tv/internet/cellphone package, but wanted to know if people in Ottawa have had trouble with Rogers.

lots of people I know have telus phones and seem happy with them, except for the long distance rates. any comments?

I'd be using my phone mostly during evenings and weekends, and using a phone card for long distance.

thanks for your help!

Every cell phone company has its good things and its bad things. I work for Rogers and we here horror stories about all cell phone companies (including Rogers). I don't know nothing about the cell coverage in Ottawa. Best of luck to you!

i don't know about Bell, they always have billing issues...

Dont even think about to use Rogers if you dont want to have many stress from them. many people so far do have so much problem with Rogers.
Go with bell they have bundle that good.

Good luck with bell as I strongly advice you not to use rogers.

Good luck

I've found the Rogers service in Ottawa pretty decent. I switched from Telus in January 05. The reception is somewhat worse than Telus - i found telus had great coverage outside the core downtown area. Rogers has a few things going for it though:

* local calling between rogers cell phones is free
* great packages for local calling plans
* phones are pretty good quality if you're willing to spend the money

If you go with Rogers for cable, wireless and/or internet, you can save some money by enrolling in a Better Choice Bundle. Once enrolled, you can save more money by using the Rogers long distance plan, which costs only $5/month for 1000 minutes of long distance, anywhere in north america, anytime of the day. Phone cards are still probably cheaper, but this is a better deal than Bell in my opinion.

I am unable to use my mobile, due to the poor reception, south of the airport where I live. In contrast, the reception on the Bell network is good in the same area. As for customer service, its virtually non-existent.
