He's right. When I've had my Telus PnT phone in the US and tried to make a call just to see if it would work, I was asked for a CC#. I've never needed it bad enough to try, so I don't know how much it would cost.

Telus does not have roaming agreements for pay and talk in the US. The phone may work, but when you try to dial out you may be asked to provide a credit card number. You are not being billed by Telus, but by whatever service provider's network you are roaming on. Good Luck!! :)
