Lenovo has been working to prove that it isn’t just a computer company. With its latest release, the Vibe X2 Pro, it hopes to knock down a few of the bigger names in the mid-tier market. Packing a monster camera and a unique design, the phone certainly turns heads. But how does it perform? Let’s check out some reviews!

One of the first things you might notice about the phone is its unique coloring. The all-metal shell of the phone features three distinct color layers. Available in multiple color pairings, it's certainly something different from other manufacturers. With a flat, square design, the phone offers a minimalistic, straight-forward but thin design that reviewer all seemed to love. Android and Me spent some time with it and said, “Overall, the build quality and finish of the Lenovo VIBE X2 Pro feel solid.”

Lenovo chose to go with a 5.3-inch 1080p IPS display. In the mid-tier market, this is a decent resolution and provides plenty of pixel density for clear text and detailed video. Many reviews raved about the color, vibrancy and brightness of the display, with some questioning if it wasn’t actually an AMOLED display instead of LCD. Phone Arena noted that it “absolutely captures our attention.”

Powering the handset is a 64-bit, eight-core Snapdragon 1.5GHz processor. Reviews found that it provided plenty of power for your typical day to day tasks. With 2GB of RAM the device, should handle multi-tasking with typical apps well. However, if you’re a power user, you might run into some slowdown with multiple apps open. While there are not many mid-tier phones sporting these newer processors, you can expect to see more in the near future. Overall, it might not be cutting edge but as Android and Me stated, “Those who need performance for work or gaming shouldn’t have any issues using the Lenovo VIBE X2 Pro as their daily driver.”

The headlining feature of the phone is its cameras. With 13MP front and rear cameras, Lenovo is taking the selfie to a whole new level. Reviews on the camera were decent with many noting that details were clear and colors were decent. However, the real star was the Vibe Xtension Selfie Flash. Designed to plug into the headphone port and sync with the phone’s camera app, it adds an eight-LED flash to the camera for better lighting. Reviews with the flash were decent, though many noted that the light intensity really only worked up close.

To help you store all your HD selfies, the X2 Pro includes 32GB of internal storage space. While this is likely more than enough for the average user, microSD card support means you can add enough movies and music and apps to last for weeks.

Overall, reviews of the handset were positive. While there are certainly more powerful phones in the flagship tier, the specs of the X2 Pro and it’s beastly front camera firmly place it in the top of the mid-tier charts on paper. Phone Arena applauded the handset, calling it “a testament that the company can deliver outstanding smartphones that blend fun and style in one neat package.”
