Can you split a family plan into two plans with Rogers?

My wife & I are separating and we currently have a shared family plan of 200 minutes, with My5 local and I have 6g/30 data-plan (iPhone4) and the messaging option that lets me do it all on my phone instead of having a voice-mail number.

I want to continue with Rogers on my own and am willing to re-sign into a new contract (need my number, and that data-plan as I use it all the time and tether my laptop to it on a regular basis.)

My wife just wants me off the current account and wants to upgrade her phone as she didn't when we re-signed (almost a year into new 3 year contract).

So, can we do it? How should we do it? Has anyone done this before?

One of you needs to leave the current shared plan and have someone takeover it. Whoever leaves the shared plan just has to get a new plan.

To change the name to another person, a transfer of responsibility will need to be completed. To have your account transferred into someone else's name, you will need to contact customer service and give them the name of the person and authorize them to do a transfer of responsibility. Once you have given permission, please have this person call customer service as they will need to have a credit check performed before taking over the account financially. Please note the person who is taking over the existing account must be at least the age of majority in your province.

By performing a transfer, you will avoid being billed for an early cancellation fee as someone else will be assuming responsibility of the account. Once the transfer has been completed, a final invoice will be
sent to you and then the new billing will be sent to your friend's name.

Customer service is available from 6am to 2am, 7 days a week toll free from a landline at 1-888-764-3771 or by dialing *611 from your wireless phone.
