Can I view usage of WhatsApp on my Samsung Galaxy J5?
On my iPhone I could view the usage of each message sent and who I messaged the most. can I do this on Galaxy J5 ?

Go to Settings > Data usage. You should be able to see data usage of your apps there both on data network connection and Wi-Fi.
