HP, Seller of $99 TouchPads, Tries Tablet Market Again

Almost exactly a year after sending its $499 9.7-inch TouchPad to $99 firesales and ending its webOS hardware business, Hewlett-Packard is giving the mobile space another go. HP has created a new Mobility Global Business Unit to reinvest in mobility and develop "amazing new products." The unit will be headed by seven-year Nokia veteran executive Alberto Torres.
What Else You Need To Know:
- There are reports HP is developing a new Windows 8 tablet, highlighted by images recently "leaked" by HP themselves.
- The upcoming 10.1-inch Slate 8 tablet is expected to have a Windows 8 operating system, unlike previous HP mobile devices, which run on HP's own Palm webOS.
