Hi Kevin, make sure that you have set a notification ringtone in order to be alerted about incoming text messages on your phone. Go to Settings > Audio profiles and press the menu button to the right of "General" then look for Default notification sound. Make sure that Default notification sound isn't set to Silent. Choose one of the many listed ringtones to hear a sound every time a new text comes in. Hope this answered your question!
