I called a Samsung tech rep who finally admitted that one cannot change the time on this basic model phone (mistake or intent, I don't know). It automatically corrects itself on Nov 1st (daylight savings time). As I stated in my earlier complaint, I only noticed the problem ~ October 1st. So maybe it only happens twice a year for a one month interval...

The answer that Carl P gave 10 months ago does not work for me or the other people who left comments about the greyed out time setting function. You cannot make any adjustments. Does anyone have the right answer?

From the Idle screen, press Menu > Settings > Time and Date. That's where you can adjust the time and date.
